The Missing Voices of Women in Music and Music News was launched in 2025 and is the fourth in the multi-award-winning Missing Perspectives report series. It examines women’s recognition in the Grammys between 2017 and 2025, comparing the overly positive narratives of the Recording Academy and media with the much grimmer reality of women’s marginalisation as nominees and winners, and identifying the structural barriers that women face in music.

A new Missing Perspectives analysis on the 2026 Grammy Awards reveals a familiar but more exaggerated pattern: men dominated Grammy wins, and women saw a significant drop in recognition compared with last year. The Missing Voices of Women in the 2026 Grammys shows how women’s representation as winners and to a lesser extent nominees, has taken a dramatic hit in 2026.
